Avalanche Awareness Days

To prevent avalanche accidents and help people make good decisions in avalanche terrain, the Canadian Avalanche Centre (CAC) and avalanche professionals in over 30 Canadian communities share their expertise to help people keep safe in the mountains during Avalanche Awareness Days presented by Canadian Pacific Railway.

Learn about your winter environment from our very own Fernie Pro Patrol with fun and interactive activities for the whole family! Activities that weekend include transciever education and searches, snow pit profiles, avalanche trivia and more! PLUS - Saturday during apres join us in the Griz Bar for a Fundraising Gear Auction!! Great product to bid on and ALL proceeds from the event go to support the Canadian Avalanche Centre!!

Schedule:
10am - 2pm @ Base of Deer Chair - Main Activities - Pro Patrol on site, transceiver education and practice area, displays and more!
11am-2pm @ Top of the Bear Chair - Snow Pit Profile run by Fernie's Pro Patrol
3pm - 4:30pm @ Griz Bar (Saturday only) - Fundraising Auction for the CAC. Great items up for grabs including jackets, shovels, probes and more! Live and silent auction items available. Auction items on display starting at 3pm. Live auction taking place at 4pm.
