Family Fun New Year's Eve
Come out and celebrate the new year with the entire family! Join us from 6pm-9pm for night skiing on the Mighty Moose (lift ticket required) and a variety of FREE family activities in the base area. Activities that night include a firepit complete with hot chocolate, snow sculpture area, arts and crafts and the night wraps up with a family new years count down at 9pm. Activities are free of charge so bring the family out and ring in 2009 at Fernie Alpine Resort.
New Year's Eve - Griz Bar Party
Ring in the new year at the hottest party in Fernie! Join us at our legendary Griz Bar as we celebrate the start of 2009 with live music from The Todd Sellecks. Doors open at 8:30pm and this is a 19+ party. Tickets are only $35+gst and are on sale at Guest Services! This event sells out every year so get yours before they are gone!
Live Music @ Griz Bar - The Todd Sellecks
Come join us for some pre and post new years celebrations in the Griz Bar. Get your retro/funk groove on with live music from The Todd Sellecks. They will be playing Wednesday, Dec.31 from 3pm-6pm and Thursday, Jan. 1 from 3pm-6pm!
Girls Day Out
Girls Day Out is returning to Fernie Alpine Resort! Participants will spend two action packed days, improving skiing skills with our professional coaches, testing out new Rossignol skis, eating exquisite lunches and sharing laughs with new friends. Community building and goal setting workshops will be implanted to help all female attendees become aware of their personal potential on and off skis. Live Music @ Griz Bar - Surf Dragons
There may be snow outside but come inside the Griz Bar and enjoy some surf inspired rock from the Surf Dragons. They will be on stage Saturday from 3pm-6pm and 9pm-11:30pm as well as Sunday from 3pm-6pm.
Avalanche Awareness Days
Learn about your snowy winter environment! Educational and interactive activities and demonstrations happening all weekend, including appearances by our avalanche rescue dogs!

10am-2pm: Transceiver Search Competition @ Base of Deer Chair -See how fast you can use a trasceiver to search out and find our hidden ones! Prizes will be awarded for the fastest time. There is no entry fee although a donation to the Canadian Avalanche Centre is encouraged.
11am-2pm: Snow Pit Profile Demo @ Top of the Bear Chair
2pm-3:30pm: Avalanche Video & Presentation in the Daylodge
3:30pm: Live Auction @ Griz Bar - Come out and get some great gear from Marmot and BCA including a proble, transceiver, jacket and more! 100% of the proceeds from the auction go toward the Canadian Avalanche Centre!!

Sunday, January 11

Rock out at the Griz bar with live music from the Antoine Bady Harry Band. The band will be playing on Saturday from 3pm-6pm and 9pm-11:30pm as well as Sunday from 3pm-6pm.
Fernie Family Fun Race
Spend time on the slopes with the entire family and enjoy some fun, friendly competition in the 1st Annual Fernie Family Fun Race!

Each family member will get 2 runs down our course. This race is not about speed! Teams will have to guess their combined race time and the team closest to their predicted time wins!!!
The race will be held on our NASTAR Course (conditions permitting). If conditions do not allow for the NASTAR course to be open there will be an alternate course set up instead!
Entry fee is only $25 per family! Registration will be available at Guest Services soon.

Live Music @ Griz Bar - Rick Voisey
Come join us in the Griz Bar for some classic rock compliments of Rick Voisey. Rick will be playing on Saturday from 3pm-6pm and 9pm-11:30pm and on Sunday from 3pm-6pm!
Cardboard Derby
Participants recycle cardboard into the most creative of sculptures! Test your creativity by constructing a cardboard craft able to cruise gracefully down a ski slope carrying you and your friends! Crafts will navigate the slope one at a time. This is not a race - there are no points for speed. Creativity and accuracy are key. The crafts can be simple or complex, with up to 4 pilots to maneuver down the hill. A good time is assured, so get your team together!
Live Music @ Griz Bar - Todd Band
Come join us for some apres ski fun in the Griz Bar with live retro funk music from the Todd Band. The Todd Band will be playing on Saturday from 3pm-6pm and 9pm-11:30pm as well as Sunday from 3pm-6pm.
Kokanee Snow Dreams Festival
THE Après Ski Party in the Griz Bar hosted by Kokanee. This is one party you won’t want to miss- voted one of the best Deck Parties in all of North America, this party is sure to create stories that will turn into legends! Be prepared for lots of cold Kokanee beer, meet the Glacier Girls, and compete for the Best Sasquatch mating call and Best Ranger! Dig out your Aviators…we’ll see you there!
Junior Freeski Competition
Watch as the 18 and unders show how big mountain Fernie really is. Age categories will include 7-11 years, 12-15 years, and 16-18 years of age for both guys and gals. Competitors will warm up Saturday in the qualifying runs so that they can move on to the Sunday’s finals and award ceremony. Helmets are mandatory.

Fernie Freeski Competition
Athletes will be challenged by Fernie Alpine Resort’s terrain and legendary powder in the sixth annual Fernie Freeski. The event begins with Registration and a Venue Inspection on Wednesday, Qualifying Round on Thursday, Semi-Final Round on Friday, and Final Round, Awards Ceremony and Party on Saturday. The Sunday will be held as a weather day. On-line registration information coming soon!
Griz Days Dummy Downhill
A highlight of Fernie’s winter Griz Days festival. Strictly for fun, this competition features imaginative & hilarious “dummies” on skis launching themselves off a gigantic jump!
Rockstar Rockband Competition
Powder 8's Championships
Skier's pair up to make perfect figure 8's in untracked POWDER snow. Competitors will be judged on their skiing synchronization, distance spacing and style as well as their track roundness, symmetry and fall line.
Powder Pedal Paddle Relay Race
Another locals favourite – the PPP has been going strong since 1984! Teams of 1-5 people ski, bike, paddle & run in a fun (yet competitive!) relay race. Followed by a great dinner for all competitors & an after party for competitors 19+, this is the perfect season ender!
