FERNIE ALPINE RESORT COMMUNITY SUMMIT FUND ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR LOCAL PROJECTS

 
Calgary, AB – May 8, 2008– The Fernie Alpine Resort Community Summit Fund is pleased to announce that another five projects will be supported through cash donations from the Fund.

Since its inception in the spring of 2007, close to $24,000 in cash has been contributed to local Fernie community projects through the Fund, with another $17,000 in cash committed to longer term projects. To date, 24 projects have received cash grants.

The Fernie Alpine Resort Community Summit Fund is a $150,000, 5-year initiative that aims to enhance the community of Fernie by supporting sustainable local projects.

The most recent Community Summit Fund recipients include:
• The Elk Valley PARTY Program – Family Fun Carnival Night
• Fernie Community Media Society – Our View with Mary Giuliano
• Elk Valley Society for Community Living – Summer Programming
• Fernie Mountain Biking Club – Bike Park and Spring Biking Blitz

All local organizations and charities are eligible for the program. Grant applications are typically reviewed by the Community Summit Fund committee every three months. To be eligible, a written application must be presented, outlining the following: the background / history of the beneficiary organization; a description of the Project receiving the grant; and date / timeline of the project in question.
