Over the past 5 years, beginning in 2007, Fernie Alpine Resort has been significantly contributing to community charities, organizations, and programs through the Community Summit Fund. $150,000 has been pledged in total and we are almost there. Some of the organizations that have benefitted so far are: A Taste of Fernie, Fernie Heritage Library and Fernie & District Arts Council, Elk Valley Relay for Life, Elk Valley Society for Community Living, Emily Brydon Youth Foundation, Fernie Chamber of Commerce, Fernie Ghostriders Junior Hockey League, Fernie Writers Conference, and many many more.

After our local Olympic Athlete Emily Brydon competed in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games we honoured her passion for skiing, commitment to the community, and her achievements by naming a run on Fernie Alpine Resort after her, now simply known as “Emily’s”. Emily Brydon also runs a Non-Profit Organization known as the Emily Brydon Youth Foundation. Fernie Alpine Resort proudly donates Cash and In-Kind to use for fundraiser benefits at her Golf Tournament Fundraiser year after year. In fact, we are one of the largest supporters and co-title sponsor of the event. Emily is an amazing person and we are very proud of her!

Fernie Alpine Resort made their Resort Childcare available year round to ensure the community of Fernie would have licensed childcare available if they needed it! Summer Day Camps for Kids are also available!

We have continued many ongoing extremely popular Community fuelled events such as the Powder, Peddle, Paddle Relay (going strong since 1984), the Dummy Downhill (29th annual in the 2011/12 season!), and the Cardboard Box Derby. Over more recent years we have introduced some new Family favourites such as the New Year’s Family Fun Party, with a special family New Year’s Countdown with sparklers at 9pm for the little ones, and the Fernie’s Got Talent event, featuring kids’ scavenger hunts and more, and of course the ever popular Ski with Santa & Photos, every Christmas Eve & Christmas Day!
